Short-duration traffic stoppages along I-64 east and west in Henrico County for overhead utility work

RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) contractor, assisted by the Virginia State Police (VSP), will conduct intermittent traffic stoppages along eastbound and westbound Interstate 64 (I-64) between Route 156 (South Airport Road) and Meadow Road in Henrico County next week for overhead utility work. Each stoppage will last up to 15 minutes or until conditions are safe to release traffic. Ramps in-between the project limits will also be concurrently closed.

Weather permitting, the schedule will be:

  • Oct. 5-8 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Oct. 9 from 9:30 a.m.to 2 p.m.

Motorists should obey VSP and traffic control crews or seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

Signs will also be placed in advance of the work locations notifying drivers of stoppages.

Contact Dominion Energy’s Communications Specialist Tomesha Thompson at 804-629-5928 for more information about the project.
