Public comment invited on Route 605 and Route 615 roadway improvement project in Lancaster County
FREDERICKSBURG – The public is invited to learn more and comment on a proposed project to realign Route 615 (Carlson Road) at the intersection with Route 605 (Pinckardsville Road) in Lancaster County near the Northumberland County line.
An in-person design public hearing will be held:
Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026
5-7 p.m.
Lancaster Elementary School
191 School Street
Kilmarnock, VA 22482
*In the event a backup date is needed, the hearing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2026, at the same location.
Stop by anytime at the public hearing to review displays, proposed plans, and discuss questions with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) staff.
The public can submit comments using an online survey and view meeting materials on the project page.
Comments on the project will be accepted at the public hearing and afterward through Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.

Project Background
The plan is to realign Route 615 (Carlson Road) at the intersection with Route 605 (Pinckardsville Road) in Lancaster County and near the Northumberland County line.
The project will improve safety at the intersection by realigning the roadway and flattening the horizontal curve.
